Lidey Heuck Named Editor-in-Chief of Food52

Lidey Heuck, the cookbook author and former America’s Test Kitchen editor, will take the helm at Food52 as Editor-in-Chief. Her appointment signals a strategic push to deepen the brand's connection with its community, focusing on the approachable, home-centric culinary storytelling that defined her previous work across digital and broadcast platforms.

In her new capacity, Heuck will oversee the brand's editorial strategy, collaborating with SVP of Content Clifford Endo to expand multimedia programming and recipe development. CEO Daniel Suratt cited her relatable voice and commitment to craft as the primary drivers behind the hire, noting her ability to resonate with the modern home cook. Co-founder Amanda Hesser emphasized that Heuck’s professional background—which includes a six-year tenure assisting Ina Garten and contributions to New York Times Cooking—aligns perfectly with the company’s focus on inventive, everyday kitchen solutions.

Heuck arrives at the New York-based lifestyle brand after serving as Editor-in-Residence at America’s Test Kitchen and hosting the Netflix video podcast In the Test Kitchen. A recognizable figure in the industry, she authored the 2024 bestseller Cooking in Real Life and maintains a popular newsletter on Substack. Her transition to Food52 follows the company’s recent integration into the Culinary Media Group earlier this year, marking a period of evolution for the digital-first platform founded by Hesser and Merrill Stubbs.
