Management confirmed that operations will resume across the network on the morning of August 24. The agreement settles a prolonged dispute involving IBEW Canadian Signals and Communications System Council No. 11, which had halted specific maintenance and operational support roles since late spring.
CPKC and IBEW end rail strike through binding arbitration
A three-month labor standoff on Canada’s railways concluded Wednesday as the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers agreed to binding arbitration. The decision forces an immediate end to the strike initiated on May 31, clearing the path for 300 signals and communications employees to return to their posts.

CPKC, the continent’s only single-line transnational railway, operates roughly 20,000 miles of track connecting Canada, the United States, and Mexico. By moving to binding arbitration, both parties have surrendered further industrial action in favor of a third-party resolution to finalize contract terms.
