Sogang University Offers Full Tuition Waivers for International STEM Students

Sogang University has launched the SOGANG RISE SURPASS TRACK, a new initiative providing international graduate students in natural sciences and engineering with full tuition coverage. Backed by the Seoul ANCHOR Project and university scholarships, the program aims to lower financial barriers while integrating foreign talent into Korea’s industrial research landscape.

The scholarship combines a 50 percent grant from the city-backed Seoul ANCHOR Project with an additional 50 percent waiver via the Sogang Global Scholarship. While mandatory admission fees remain the student's responsibility, the initiative provides significant non-financial support, including research-publication incentives, internship placement, and Korean-language proficiency grants. This dual-track funding is designed to help international researchers transition seamlessly from academic study to professional careers within Korea.

Located in the heart of Seoul, the university currently hosts approximately 250 international students among its 2,000-strong graduate body. The program, which falls under the government-supported "Attracting International Talent for Advanced Future Industries" project, emphasizes practical fluency in the local research environment. Beyond the new STEM-focused waiver, Sogang continues to offer tiered scholarships ranging from 30 to 80 percent of tuition based on TOPIK or English proficiency scores like IELTS and TOEFL. Prospective students are expected to hold relevant undergraduate or master's degrees, with specific language requirements varying by department.
