Advisors Asset Management and Wilshire Target Private Infrastructure

Advisors Asset Management and Wilshire have launched the AAM Wilshire Infrastructure Fund, a new vehicle designed to grant individual investors access to private infrastructure assets. Backed by $150 million in seed capital from Sun Life Financial, the fund seeks to capture growth across energy, digital, and social infrastructure sectors.

The fund, which operates as an evergreen interval vehicle, focuses on small- and middle-market opportunities. By targeting this segment, the managers aim to leverage specialized sourcing and reduced competition to generate risk-adjusted returns. According to Cliff Corso, CEO of Advisors Asset Management, the partnership addresses a long-standing gap in the wealth management channel, where private infrastructure has historically remained the exclusive domain of large institutions.

Wilshire, serving as the sub-advisor, brings decades of private markets expertise to the fund. Jason Schwarz, CEO of Wilshire, noted that the current economic climate presents a pivotal opportunity to address global infrastructure needs through targeted investment. The fund is structured to simplify the experience for individual participants, requiring a minimum investment of $5,000 and utilizing Form 1099 for tax reporting instead of the more complex Schedule K-1.

Investors gain exposure to a diversified portfolio of infrastructure funds, secondaries, and co-investments. While the fund offers periodic repurchase opportunities, shares remain illiquid, and the managers emphasize that the product is intended for those capable of tolerating a high degree of risk and a long-term investment horizon.
