Global organizations currently lose an estimated 8% of annual revenue to fraud, a figure rising as AI allows scammers to operate at unprecedented scale. While Basware has focused on invoice legitimacy for over four decades, the acquisition of Trustpair addresses the critical vulnerability of payment redirection—ensuring that even a verified invoice does not result in funds being sent to a compromised bank account. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, 75% of professionals have noted a surge in AI-powered document forgery over the last two years.
Basware to Acquire Trustpair to Combat AI-Driven Payment Fraud
As generative AI makes invoice forgery and supplier impersonation increasingly difficult to detect, Basware has signed a binding agreement to acquire Trustpair. The deal aims to create the industry’s first end-to-end assurance platform, bridging the gap between invoice approval and the final release of corporate funds.

Trustpair, founded in 2017, will continue to operate as an independent entity within Basware, maintaining its open ecosystem that integrates with major ERP systems including SAP, Oracle, and Coupa. By combining Basware’s invoice lifecycle intelligence with Trustpair’s account validation data, the companies intend to leverage a shared database of 2.5 billion invoices and 20 million suppliers. This move follows Basware’s recent acquisitions of Glantus and AP Matching, signaling an aggressive push to consolidate financial integrity tools under the backing of investment firm Accel-KKR. The transaction is expected to close later in 2026.
