Sumitomo Corporation of Americas Pledges $50,000 for Colombia Relief
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake that tore through western Colombia on August 10 has prompted a $50,000 emergency contribution from Sumitomo Corporation of Americas. The funds, directed to the Colombian Red Cross, aim to supply displaced families with temporary shelter, clean water, and urgent medical provisions as recovery efforts continue.
Beyond the corporate donation, the company has initiated an internal giving campaign to facilitate further contributions from its workforce. These individual donations will be supplemented by the firm’s existing matching gift program, effectively doubling the impact of employee-led support. The company intends for these resources to provide immediate relief to front-line responders working to stabilize the affected regions.
