Reynolds, who has served the institution for over 30 years, will retain his role as chairman of the board while transitioning into an advisory capacity. His departure concludes a tenure that saw him rise from president in 2017 to CEO in 2018, and eventually board chairman in 2025. He intends to maintain an active presence in the community, continuing his support for local nonprofits and regional initiatives.
David Reynolds to Step Down as CEO of Home Federal Bank
After a half-century career in finance, David Reynolds will retire as chief executive officer of Knoxville-based Home Federal Bank this December. The transition marks the final stage of a leadership succession plan that positions current president Jonathan Mayfield to take the helm of Tennessee’s largest mutually owned community bank.
Jonathan Mayfield, a 22-year veteran of the organization, will assume the dual titles of president and CEO. His appointment follows a comprehensive planning process initiated in early 2025. Reynolds praised his successor’s grasp of servant leadership and his ability to navigate the shifting demands of the modern banking industry. Home Federal Bank, founded in 1924, operates 23 locations across Knox, Anderson, Blount, and Sevier counties.
