engage2learn Acquires Instructional Coaching Group to Expand K-12 Services

Austin-based engage2learn has acquired the Instructional Coaching Group, marking its third acquisition this year. The deal merges the company's AI-powered GroweLab platform with the globally recognized research frameworks of coaching expert Jim Knight, aiming to create a comprehensive professional development partner for K-12 school districts nationwide.

The integration brings together engage2learn’s existing coaching services and the Jim Knight Instructional Leadership Multiplier Network with the established intellectual property of the Instructional Coaching Group. By combining these resources, the organization intends to scale its support for district leaders and teachers, focusing on teacher retention and instructional quality.

Jim Knight, who founded the Instructional Coaching Group in 2006, spent three decades developing methodologies such as the Impact Cycle and the Instructional Playbook. These frameworks are currently utilized by educators worldwide to measure and improve classroom instruction. Shannon Buerk, CEO of engage2learn, noted that the partnership provides districts with a centralized solution for educator effectiveness, designed to save time while driving student outcomes.

Backing the expansion is Leeds Equity Partners, which maintains a portfolio focused on the education and training sectors. Scott VanHoy, a partner at the firm, characterized the move as a consolidation of talent and expertise in the K-12 market. While financial terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the acquisition signals a continued push by private equity to professionalize and centralize teacher development infrastructure.
