The deal marks a major shift for the Toronto-born label, which has spent two decades building its reputation on a distinct black-and-gold aesthetic. While Authentic takes control of the underlying intellectual property, the operational side of the house is moving to Vince Holding Corp. Under this arrangement, Vince will manage product development, merchandising, and the brand’s retail footprint, including its 12 global flagship stores.
Drake Partners with Authentic Brands Group to Scale OVO Globally
Authentic Brands Group has acquired a majority stake in the intellectual property of OVO, the premium lifestyle brand co-founded by Drake. The rapper and creative lead will retain a significant ownership interest, ensuring his continued influence over the brand's trajectory as it prepares for a wider international expansion.
Jamie Salter, founder of Authentic, framed the acquisition as an opportunity to scale OVO’s cultural influence without compromising its identity. For Drake, the move represents a chance to evolve the brand he started alongside Oliver El-Khatib and Noah "40" Shebib. By pairing the brand with Vince’s existing retail infrastructure, the partners aim to push OVO into new markets while maintaining the creative autonomy that defined its rise from a local Toronto project to a globally recognized enterprise.
