Two veteran members of the Lam Research board, Michael R. Cannon and Sohail U. Ahmed, will step down from their positions on November 2, 2026. The departure marks a significant leadership transition for the Fremont-based semiconductor equipment manufacturer, following years of contributions from both directors to the company's strategic growth.
Sohail U. Ahmed, who joined the board in 2019, provided deep technical expertise in silicon logic and semiconductor processing. Before his board service, Ahmed spent over three decades at Intel, where he served as senior vice president and general manager of the Technology and Manufacturing Group. His work at Intel focused on the research and deployment of next-generation microprocessor technologies, a background that proved essential to Lam’s focus on wafer fabrication equipment.
