Wix Investors File Class Action Following AI Cost and Performance Disclosures

A 27% single-day share price collapse in May has triggered a securities class action against Wix.com Ltd., as investors allege the company misled them regarding the financial burden and competitive viability of its AI-driven initiatives, Base44 and Harmony, which failed to meet performance expectations.

Wix Investors File Class Action Following AI Cost and Performance Disclosures

The lawsuit, Yappi v. Wix.com Ltd., et al., filed in the Northern District of Illinois, targets losses sustained by shareholders between February 19, 2025, and May 12, 2026. Hagens Berman, the firm representing the plaintiffs, claims Wix overstated the benefits of its AI tools while simultaneously understating the development and promotional costs required to sustain them. These internal pressures culminated in a significant margin decline, with non-GAAP operating margins dropping from 21% to 5% following an 88% surge in sales and marketing expenses.

Management eventually acknowledged during a May 2026 earnings call that the Harmony platform lacked critical capabilities, leading professional developers to migrate toward competing tools. This disclosure wiped over $1.1 billion from the company's market capitalization. Investors who suffered significant losses during the class period have until September 22, 2026, to file as lead plaintiffs, as legal counsel continues to investigate whether the company knowingly concealed the adverse financial impact of its AI strategy.
