Republic Services Marks Decade of Workplace Certification

For the tenth consecutive year, Phoenix-based Republic Services has secured the Great Place to Work certification, a milestone that highlights the environmental firm's sustained focus on internal culture. The recognition arrives as the company navigates the challenges of managing a 42,000-strong workforce across the United States.

The certification relies on direct employee input, with 85% of the company’s staff identifying it as a positive workplace—a figure that significantly outpaces the 57% average reported at typical U.S. firms. According to internal survey data, employees specifically pointed to a sense of inclusion, fair treatment across all levels of the hierarchy, and personal pride in their daily contributions as the primary drivers of their satisfaction.

Courtney Rodriguez, the company’s chief human resources officer, framed the achievement as a product of human-centered management. Beyond this internal benchmark, Republic Services has garnered external validation over the past year, appearing on Ethisphere’s list of the world’s most ethical companies and Fortune’s ranking of the world’s most admired corporations. These accolades coincide with the company’s broader push toward circularity and decarbonization within the environmental services sector.
