The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has opened applications for a $4.5 million grant program aimed at mixed-use developments. By leveraging state tax credits, the agency seeks to revitalize commercial corridors across the Commonwealth, with a specific preference for projects located within designated third-class cities.
PHFA Executive Director Robin Wiessmann noted that these investments serve as a catalyst for broader community development. Eligible project costs include the structural conversion of existing buildings, the preparation of retail lease spaces, and the creation of additional housing units. While applications from a variety of entities are welcome, the agency will grant priority status to proposals originating from third-class cities.
