The proposed infrastructure includes a four-lane bypass connecting Russell Road to Tropicana Avenue via Haven Street and Koval Lane. By mirroring the utility of Frank Sinatra Drive on the west side, this eastern route intends to divert traffic away from the Tropicana-Strip intersection, which currently handles nearly 100,000 vehicles daily. According to informal NDOT projections, the new roadway could reduce volume at that bottleneck by approximately 22 percent.
Las Vegas Plans First New Strip Intersection in 60 Years
For the first time in six decades, a new intersection is set to reshape the Las Vegas Strip at Russell Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. The project, spearheaded by Chetak Development, aims to bypass one of the world’s most congested crossings by creating a vital artery between I-15 and the south Strip.
Chetak Development is currently finalizing negotiations with Object Dash, LLC to install two Boring stations flanking the upcoming NBA Diamond Arena. The project also leverages land from the MHA Nation, whose chairman, Mark Fox, expressed support for the transit improvements. Clark County Commissioner James Gibson praised the proposal for its potential to alleviate long-standing congestion, while former Planning Commissioner Ric Truesdell noted the rarity of such a significant improvement occurring with minimal disruption to existing traffic flows. Construction is expected to span 18 months, utilizing land previously occupied by drainage ditches and county-owned property to avoid impacting current road operations.
