MGM Resorts and BetMGM Expand Responsible Gaming Initiative

MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have pledged $320,000 to bolster responsible gambling initiatives during September’s Responsible Gaming Education Month. This investment supports national research, problem gambling helplines, and the continued training of staff to manage player protection across the company’s extensive network of resorts and digital platforms.

The funding will be distributed among the International Center for Responsible Gaming, state-level problem gambling councils, and the Evive Foundation. A core component of this effort is the expansion of the GameSense program, which provides guests with tools for informed play. The initiative now reaches professional sports arenas, with new messaging integration at T-Mobile Arena and Michelob ULTRA Arena, alongside existing placements in major NFL and MLB venues.

Beyond external messaging, the companies have reached a milestone of 3,000 certified GameSense Advisors. These employees, spanning more than 45 departments, are trained to facilitate proactive conversations about responsible play. According to Stephen Martino, SVP and Chief Compliance Officer at MGM Resorts, this internal commitment is vital to scaling the program's impact. Throughout September, digital platforms and retail sportsbooks will feature "take a time-out" prompts and QR codes to connect players with support resources, reinforcing the industry-wide campaign to Play Smart from the Start.
