Regeneron Faces Class Action Lawsuit Following Failed Melanoma Trial

A federal securities class action lawsuit accuses Regeneron Pharmaceuticals of misleading investors regarding the efficacy of its Phase 3 trial for a melanoma treatment. The filing follows a May 2026 announcement that the drug combination failed to meet its primary endpoint, triggering an $11 billion collapse in market value.

The litigation centers on Regeneron’s repeated public optimism concerning the combination of Fianlimab and Libtayo. Throughout the class period, spanning August 1, 2025, to May 15, 2026, the company characterized the regimen as a potential blockbuster. However, the lawsuit alleges that management suppressed information indicating the trial’s statistical assumptions were flawed and that the treatment was failing to differentiate itself from existing standards of care.

Suspicion grew in late April 2026, when the company abruptly altered its trial protocols to account for slow event rates. Although management initially attributed these delays to strong performance in the test arms, the company later admitted that the decision to change the protocol occurred months earlier. By May 15, 2026, Regeneron confirmed the study failed to reach statistical significance, causing shares to plummet. Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP is now leading the investigation into whether executives intentionally obscured the drug's lack of clinical viability. Investors who suffered significant losses during this period have until September 14, 2026, to file as lead plaintiffs.
