Rural King targets Southeast market with aggressive price-cutting program

Starting September 3, Rural King is rolling out a series of deep discounts across its Southeast locations, offering Rewards members at least 25% off everyday essentials. The retailer, headquartered in Mattoon, Illinois, plans to rotate these curated Hot Deals every 60 days to help rural households combat rising costs.

The initial lineup includes 10 specific items ranging from livestock feed and dog food to pool chemicals and automotive supplies. Key products such as 50-pound bags of Country Road 3-Way Blend livestock mix are priced at $8.99, while 40-pound bags of Good Friends dry dog food are marked down to $14.99. These promotions are restricted to the company's free-to-join Rewards program, which requires no membership fee.

Chairman Alex Melvin stated the initiative aims to provide meaningful relief on products customers purchase regularly. The current batch of discounts runs through October 28 at participating stores across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, including locations in Ocala, Dothan, and Waycross. By refreshing the selection every two months, the retailer intends to maintain a competitive edge for shoppers managing property, vehicle, and home maintenance needs.
