SEMI and Silicon Catalyst Partner to Scale Semiconductor Startups

At SEMICON Taiwan 2026, industry association SEMI and hardware accelerator Silicon Catalyst signed a memorandum of understanding to bridge the gap between early-stage semiconductor ventures and global manufacturing leaders. The partnership aims to streamline the commercialization of breakthrough technologies as the AI era demands faster cycles of hardware innovation.

The collaboration links Silicon Catalyst’s portfolio of startups with SEMI’s network of over 4,000 member companies. By embedding startup-focused programs into SEMI’s global event schedule, the initiative provides emerging firms with direct access to corporate venture capital, manufacturing ecosystems, and strategic industry resources. Silicon Catalyst, which has engaged with over 5,000 startups since its inception in 2015, will leverage this global platform to extend its reach from the Americas and Europe into new international markets.

SEMI President and CEO Ajit Manocha noted that the integration is designed to help members identify emerging technologies earlier. To kick off the operational phase, Shih-Wei Sun, Founding Managing Director of Silicon Catalyst Ventures, is set to deliver a keynote at SEMICON Taiwan’s Venture Day on September 4. This event serves as the first of many planned showcases, including dedicated Startup Zones, aimed at fostering a scalable model for investment and mentorship across the entire semiconductor supply chain.
