Nearly half of the respondents, 46%, admit they abandon online transactions when identity verification processes become overly complex. This friction highlights a critical barrier for the upcoming digital wallet rollout. For the EUDI Wallet to gain traction, IDnow’s findings suggest it must address specific consumer demands: 40% of participants prioritize enhanced fraud protection, while 31% emphasize the need for greater control over shared personal data.
Selective disclosure remains a primary selling point for the wallet, with 63% of consumers stating they would be more inclined to use the service if it allowed them to verify attributes like age without sharing their entire identity profile. Despite these preferences, the path to widespread adoption is not guaranteed. When opening bank accounts, only 14% of respondents currently prefer a digital identity wallet, while 24% still opt for in-person verification.
