IntelliGenome has named SIMED S.A. the exclusive distributor for its CRISPR-TB blood test across Peru and Ecuador. The deal follows recent regulatory clearance from Peru’s DIGEMID, marking a strategic push to replace traditional sputum-based screening with cell-free DNA molecular detection in two critical South American tuberculosis markets.
Kurt Wehrle, Vice President of Partnerships at IntelliGenome, noted that SIMED’s specific focus on molecular diagnostics made them the primary candidate for the expansion. For SIMED, the agreement bolsters a diagnostics portfolio that already serves public health institutions throughout the region. Abelardo Cruces, General Laboratory and Biosciences Business Manager at SIMED, stated the technology aligns with the firm’s commitment to integrating advanced molecular tools into local laboratory workflows.
