Vertice debuts AI agent to automate software procurement negotiations

With one in seven software contracts currently auto-renewing without oversight, Vertice has launched Ana, an autonomous AI agent designed to manage procurement negotiations at scale. By leveraging a proprietary dataset of $75 billion in indirect spend, the tool aims to replace manual bottlenecks with data-backed, high-speed contract management.

Ana operates either as a fully autonomous negotiator or a copilot, allowing procurement teams to set specific goals regarding pricing, payment terms, and contract duration. The agent drafts interactions in the customer’s unique voice, drawing on historical email dialogue to maintain consistency. During its initial rollout, the system handled over 4,000 negotiations, yielding an average of 18% in cost savings while reducing procurement cycles by 15 days.

The platform addresses a significant gap in enterprise spend management, where "tail spend" often goes unreviewed, leaving vendor price hikes and compliance shifts unchallenged. By utilizing Monte Carlo simulations to forecast outcomes and real-time benchmarking, Ana identifies leverage points—such as usage data or competitive alternatives—to steer discussions. CEO Eldar Tuvey notes that the technology brings pattern recognition from hundreds of thousands of expert negotiations to every deal, operating at a scale that traditional headcount-heavy procurement teams cannot match. The system provides a full audit trail for every exchange, ensuring that strategy and rationale remain transparent throughout the lifecycle of a purchase.
