Panasonic Automotive Systems Secures SBTi Validation for Climate Goals

Under the validated plan, the Yokohama-based manufacturer commits to a 63% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by fiscal year 2035, using 2024 as the baseline. To support this, the group aims to source 100% renewable electricity for its facilities by 2030. These near-term objectives serve as a bridge toward the company’s long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions across its entire value chain by fiscal year 2050, which includes a 90% reduction in Scope 3 emissions.

President Masashi Nagayasu’s team is now tasked with scaling energy conservation and low-carbon product development. The strategy requires deep integration with suppliers to address Scope 3 Category 1 and 11 emissions, which represent indirect impacts outside of direct manufacturing. The company, which is slated to rebrand as Mobitera Inc. in April 2027, has already maintained net-zero CO2 emissions at its major global sites since 2023. These new targets represent the next phase of its contribution to sustainable mobility.
