Aitech Unveils C165 to Extend Life of Defense VME Systems

Military programs clinging to legacy VME architectures now have a path to modernization without a full redesign. Aitech’s new C165 rugged single-board computer offers a drop-in performance boost for air, land, and naval platforms, integrating modern Intel processing while preserving existing infrastructure and minimizing the risks of total system migration.

The C165 targets the friction between increasing mission requirements and the high cost of replacing established hardware. By acting as a pin-compatible successor to older C164 and C163 models, the board allows defense integrators to upgrade computing power and graphics capabilities while retaining qualified software and platform investments. This approach addresses component obsolescence, a persistent hurdle for long-term military projects that rely on older, yet operationally effective, technology.

Powered by an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185GRE processor, the unit delivers a significant jump in efficiency, doubling the performance-per-watt of its predecessors. Beyond raw compute, the board tackles modern security demands with its AiSecure framework, which includes TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and Intel Boot Guard. With support for up to 4TB of encrypted NVMe storage, the C165 provides the data management necessary for modern ISR and video analytics, ensuring that aging platforms remain relevant in current threat environments.
