The system shifts advertising from a passive, one-way message to a two-way dialogue. By embedding AI agents into the viewing experience, the companies aim to turn traditional timeouts into moments of utility. A viewer watching a game, for instance, could converse with an agent to receive personalized product recommendations or finalize a purchase directly on screen. This approach seeks to bridge the gap between initial brand awareness and final sale, capturing consumer intent more effectively than traditional methods.
Brand Engagement Network and Cataneo Integrate AI Into Ad Breaks
At the IBC2026 conference in Amsterdam, Brand Engagement Network and Cataneo unveiled conversational advertising technology designed to replace static commercial breaks with real-time, interactive AI agents. The platform enables viewers to engage directly with brands, ask questions, and complete transactions without leaving their broadcast or streaming content.

Tyler Luck, CEO of Brand Engagement Network, described the technology as an "engagement layer" for media that allows for measurable outcomes rather than generic impressions. Renato Rocha Pinto, CEO of Cataneo, noted that the move aims to reduce irrelevant advertising while improving economic efficiency for brands. The companies are entering a market currently valued at $44 billion, with Omdia projections suggesting global connected TV advertising revenue could reach $81 billion by 2030. As the industry integrates streaming with e-commerce, this technology offers networks and agencies a new medium to move beyond standard viewership metrics toward direct, transaction-oriented engagement.
