The company’s strategy, branded as "In Europe, For Europe," aims to establish local assembly and a robust service network by 2028. To support this, Foton is deploying the CAVAN BEACON, a modular heavy-duty truck platform capable of supporting battery-electric, hydrogen fuel-cell, and hybrid powertrains. The vehicle boasts a 1,000-kilometer range on hydrogen and features megawatt fast-charging technology that recovers 60% of capacity in under 20 minutes.
Foton Motor Targets European Market with New Zero-Emission Fleet
At the IAA Transportation 2026 show in Hannover, BAIC Foton signaled a shift from traditional exports to a localized value-chain model. The manufacturer, which recently hit a 13-million-unit production milestone, is banking on its new zero-carbon heavy-duty truck platform to anchor a broader expansion across the European continent.
Beyond hardware, Foton is leveraging its BROCK subsidiary to integrate connected services into its European operations. The current lineup on display in Hannover includes seven distinct models ranging from the TUNLAND V9 PHEV pickup to the eGALAXUS D3, alongside proprietary components like e-axles and advanced battery systems. With a target to ensure that 50% of its global sales come from new energy vehicles by 2030, Foton plans to scale its presence to nearly 20 European markets, supported by a centralized German parts distribution hub.
