The initiative focuses on integrating circular economy principles into daily hotel functions. By collaborating with the non-profit civil association, Sunset World intends to refine its waste separation, handling, and recovery systems. These changes seek to reduce overall waste generation while reintroducing materials into production cycles, moving beyond simple disposal methods.
Sunset World Group Partners with ECOCE to Advance Circular Economy
Starting September 15, 2026, the Cancún-based Sunset World Group will implement new waste management protocols through a strategic partnership with ECOCE. This collaboration aims to align the hospitality firm’s operations with Mexico’s Circular Economy Law by optimizing resource use across its six hotel properties.

This move builds on the company’s existing environmental track record, which includes an internal energy efficiency program and a transition to renewable power sources like wind and geothermal energy. By extending these efforts to waste management, the group aims to institutionalize sustainable habits among staff, members, and guests. The partnership serves as a practical application of the broader national shift toward resource efficiency, ensuring that the firm's tourism operations remain compliant with evolving environmental standards.
