The two-year firm contract will utilize either the Well Enhancer or the Seawell, both specialized vessels designed for riserless well intervention. Hornbeck plans to deploy a comprehensive service package for the project, bundling subsea intervention lubricators, remotely operated vehicles, and saturation diving alongside internal project management and engineering support.
Hornbeck Offshore Secures North Sea Decommissioning Contract
A major North Sea operator has tapped Hornbeck Offshore Services for a multi-year decommissioning campaign, tasking the firm with complex plug and abandonment operations starting in the second quarter of 2027. The agreement marks a significant expansion of the company’s rigless intervention footprint in European waters.
Todd M. Hornbeck, President and CEO, noted that the award reinforces the company's capability to execute integrated, rigless decommissioning solutions under a single-contract structure. The deal strengthens the firm's position in the North Sea as it pivots toward providing end-to-end support for aging subsea infrastructure.
