This strategic alliance aims to lower financial barriers to higher education by offering qualifying students a 25 percent tuition discount on future undergraduate programs at the public institution.

Savvas Learning and UMGC Partner to Expand Dual-Enrollment Access

The partnership integrates the Outlier dual-enrollment platform into the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) ecosystem, allowing students to complete asynchronous coursework that satisfies both high school and university requirements. By providing access to accredited, career-focused programs in fields like cybersecurity, AI, and healthcare, the collaboration seeks to streamline the transition to postsecondary education.

Bethlam Forsa, CEO of Savvas Learning Company, emphasized that the initiative serves families concerned by rising tuition costs, providing a more affordable entry point to degree attainment. Chris Motz, chief partnerships officer at UMGC, noted that the move aligns with the university’s mission to increase accessibility for a broader demographic of learners. As the second-largest public university in the U.S. as of 2026, UMGC aims to leverage this reach to help students gain early exposure to college-level academic rigor through the Savvas Realize digital platform.
