Gibson’s transition follows a career at Goldman Sachs that began in 2001, culminating in his recent role leading the Global Client Business for the firm’s asset management arm. At Strategic Value Partners, he will manage firmwide infrastructure and client relations while leveraging his background in power and infrastructure to assist with deal sourcing. He is slated to join the company’s management and investment committees upon his arrival.
Goldman Sachs Partner Matt Gibson to Lead Strategic Value Partners
After a quarter-century tenure at Goldman Sachs, Matt Gibson is moving to the private sector to become President of Strategic Value Partners. Starting in February 2027, Gibson will oversee the firm’s non-investment operations and strategic growth initiatives, reporting directly to founder and chief investment officer Victor Khosla.
Founder Victor Khosla characterized the appointment as a strategic step to manage the firm's increasing business complexity. With approximately $22 billion in assets under management, the Greenwich-based firm is positioning itself for further expansion by integrating Gibson’s experience in institutional and wealth distribution. Before his time in finance, Gibson served as a surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy.
