The Money Moves program centers on the premise that athletic success is a collaborative effort. By leveraging Venmo’s existing infrastructure, the nine selected athletes—including UCLA basketball player Sienna Betts and Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway—will share their NIL earnings with the mentors, family members, and coaches who facilitated their rise. The campaign aims to reframe individual compensation as a tool for gratitude, with content documenting these exchanges scheduled for release on Instagram and TikTok throughout the academic year.
Venmo Shifts NIL Strategy with New 'Money Moves' Initiative
Seven of the nine student-athletes selected for Venmo’s 2026-2027 NIL roster compete in women’s sports, signaling a strategic push into the fastest-growing sectors of collegiate fandom. The brand is pairing these partnerships with a new initiative designed to encourage athletes to redistribute their earnings to community support networks.

Venmo’s roster highlights a diverse spread across five sports, featuring athletes such as Audi Crooks of Oklahoma State, Penn State’s Ava and Caroline Jurevicius, and Marcus Neal Jr., along with Utah gymnast Avery Neff, USC basketball player Jazzy Davidson, and Texas Tech softball athlete Kaitlyn Terry. This move follows internal research indicating that 68% of college students view digital cost-sharing as a primary method for maintaining social harmony. By embedding itself into the financial ecosystem of campus life, the platform is attempting to move beyond basic transaction processing to position itself as a central component of student social connectivity.
