Alison Nguyen Unearths Industrial Ghosts in New High Line Film

Screening daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the High Line’s 14th Street passage through November 16, 2026, the film examines the transition of the Westbeth building from a research facility for telecommunications and atomic bomb components into a sanctuary for artists. Nguyen’s work functions as a collage of archival documents, performance, and interviews with residents, interrogating how the structures of the past influence current urban environments.

Taylor Zakarin, associate curator of High Line Art, noted that the project sheds light on the industrial and scientific legacies built into the neighborhood. By presenting the film outdoors, near the very site it investigates, the collaboration aims to ground the artist's research in the physical reality of the city. After its New York run, the project is scheduled to screen at The Window in London, continuing a cross-institutional partnership focused on time-based media and public space.
