The Beijing Green Development Forum 2026 opened this week at the Municipal Administrative Center, bringing together global policymakers and industry leaders to align on low-carbon strategies. The event marks a pivotal push to establish Beijing as an international benchmark for green economy as the nation begins its 15th Five-Year Plan.
Central to the event is the development of the Municipal Administrative Center as a national demonstration zone. More than ten benchmark projects were signed on-site, involving partnerships between tech firms and state-owned enterprises. These range from AI-driven energy management in public buildings to international carbon accounting collaborations. Nobel laureate Mohan Munasinghe and other experts emphasized that moving toward a low-carbon future is no longer a purely environmental goal but a core driver for sustainable economic growth and global competitiveness.
