A new three-day itinerary titled the "PNW Starter Pack" attempts to move past the region's moody cliches by inviting travelers to participate in the local rhythm of waterfront dining and seasonal agriculture.
"You can learn a lot about a place by seeing what people make time for," said Matt Wakefield, Chief Marketing and Data Officer for Visit Tacoma-Pierce County. The itinerary emphasizes this philosophy, encouraging visitors to spend time in independent shops, kayak in Steilacoom, or explore local pumpkin patches. Lodging options are equally varied, ranging from urban hotels to farm-based tiny homes where visitors might find themselves sharing space with alpacas. By prioritizing these ordinary pleasures, the project aims to turn a standard sightseeing trip into a more immersive look at the habits that shape life in Pierce County.
