CRRC Debuts AI-Driven Trains and Hydrogen Locomotives at InnoTrans 2026

Under the canopy of Berlin’s InnoTrans 2026, CRRC has unveiled three flagship vehicles that signal a shift toward autonomous and zero-emission rail travel. The manufacturer’s latest portfolio includes an AI-integrated metro train, a high-capacity hydrogen locomotive, and an automated flat wagon, all designed to overhaul traditional transit efficiency.

The centerpiece of the showcase is a digital-intelligent metro train built on the VELLINK platform, notable for being the first mass-transit application of embodied AI. By utilizing a network of multi-source sensors, the system identifies potential track failures in real time. Engineers have achieved an 18% reduction in vehicle weight through advanced materials, which translates to a 10% drop in energy consumption. The interior design, recognized with an iF Design Award, features panoramic windows and modular seating to prioritize passenger comfort alongside technical performance.

Outdoor displays highlight the VELFORCE hydrogen fuel-cell hybrid locomotive, a 2,000 kW machine targeting non-electrified freight routes. Its dual-stack fuel system allows for rapid refueling in under 20 minutes and maintains a hydrogen utilization rate above 98%. Complementing this is the MAGIX intelligent flat wagon, which optimizes short-haul logistics with a 73-metric-ton load capacity on a 17-metric-ton frame. To support these hardware advancements, CRRC is deploying its AIZOR large-scale model across its manufacturing and maintenance lifecycle, aiming to provide end-to-end cloud-edge connectivity for global transit operators.
