Linea Energy Secures Financing for 250 MW Texas Battery Project

San Francisco-based developer Linea Energy has locked in project debt and a preferred equity commitment for the Mesa View BESS, a 250 MW standalone battery energy storage facility located in Upton County, Texas. The project, expected to reach commercial operation in 2027, bolsters the ERCOT market's dispatchable power capacity.

The financing package includes a construction-to-term loan, a tax equity bridge loan, and a letter of credit facility. Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (NORD/LB) acted as the coordinating lead arranger, with Texas Capital joining as a syndicate lender. D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI) provided the preferred equity commitment, marking a deepening of the firm's existing partnership with Linea.

Cassidy DeLine, CEO of Linea Energy, noted that the deal signals the maturation of the company's platform and its ability to bring investable energy infrastructure to market. Once online, the Mesa View site will provide 250 MW of capacity, addressing the growing demand for grid reliability in the region. Legal counsel for the transaction was provided by Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP for the sponsor, Winston & Strawn LLP for the lenders, and Foley & Lardner LLP for DESRI.
