The initiative arrives as California faces a persistent education challenge: nearly 20 percent of students were chronically absent during the 2024-25 school year, a figure significantly higher than pre-pandemic averages. With the state aiming to reduce this rate to 12.5 percent by 2030, the funding is designed to offset costs for implementing tools compatible with state-sanctioned Attendance Recovery programs.

Unlike generative AI tools, the company describes its technology as a deterministic, pedagogy-driven system covering five core subjects in English and Spanish.
