From Casey’s Store to Industry Icon: Farm4Profit’s Unlikely Rise

In a converted Casey’s General Store in Slater, Iowa, a team of agricultural podcasters is reshaping how farmers handle their balance sheets. The Mid America CropLife Association recently recognized this shift, naming Farm4Profit Media the inaugural recipient of its Industry Impact of the Year Award for transforming rural financial discourse.

Tanner Winterhof, a former commercial banker turned media entrepreneur, launched the venture in 2014 alongside co-hosts Corey Hillebo and David Whitaker. While traditional agricultural media often focuses on production techniques, the Farm4Profit model prioritizes the business side of farming: interest expenses, succession planning, and cost-per-acre analysis. This pivot toward the financial realities of modern farming has resonated with a massive audience, generating 59 million YouTube views and over 6 million podcast downloads.

The association’s recognition highlights a broader evolution in the sector. According to MACA President Aaron Deardorff, the award honors those who provide a trusted voice for agriculture through innovation and communication. Beyond the studio, the company has leveraged its reach for advocacy, including raising nearly $50,000 for tornado relief in Iowa and Nebraska. Winterhof suggests the award validates a new era of transparency, noting that farmers are increasingly willing to discuss money, mistakes, and operational struggles openly to help their peers make more informed decisions.
