Reworld Employees Mobilize for Nationwide Cleanup Effort

Eighty-four bags of trash collected in Newark represents only a fraction of the waste removed during September’s World Cleanup Day. Employees from Reworld fanned out across the United States, partnering with local municipalities and volunteer groups to clear invasive vegetation and restore public spaces near their facilities.

The initiative spanned multiple states, with teams tackling specific environmental challenges tailored to their regions. In the Mid-Atlantic, staff from Maryland and Virginia sites collaborated with the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail to clear debris at Gravelly Point. Meanwhile, the Newark team secured the city's Gold Broom Award for their participation in the Slam Dunk the Junk event, clearing an extensive amount of litter from local access roads.

Other efforts included riverfront beautification in Rahway, New Jersey, and a partnership with Keep Lee County Beautiful in Florida to target known litter hotspots. According to Alyssa Wilds, Senior Director of Corporate & Community Relations, these projects are designed to demonstrate that the company’s environmental stewardship extends well beyond its industrial facilities. Additional crews in New York and Pennsylvania focused on long-term maintenance, including the adoption of a stretch of Highland Avenue in Chester to ensure ongoing community upkeep.
