Honda Taps Applied Intuition to Overhaul Software-Defined Vehicle Fleet

Honda is joining forces with Silicon Valley’s Applied Intuition to fast-track the development of a centralized software-defined vehicle platform. By integrating the startup's Vehicle OS into its manufacturing pipeline, the Japanese automaker aims to transition from traditional hardware-heavy builds to a model defined by continuous, over-the-air digital evolution.

The partnership combines Honda’s legacy in mass-market production with Applied Intuition’s specialized physical AI stack. Mahito Shikama, Honda’s Chief Officer of Corporate Strategy, noted that the move is intended to expedite internal development cycles while keeping architectural control firmly in-house. The goal is to deploy a scalable, upgradable system capable of handling diverse powertrains, including the company’s extensive hybrid lineup.

For Applied Intuition, the agreement marks a significant expansion of its global footprint. CEO Qasar Younis emphasized that the project seeks to marry Silicon Valley’s rapid software iteration with the rigorous engineering standards required for global automotive production. By streamlining the development of a full-vehicle platform, the companies expect to reduce costs and shorten the time required to deliver personalized, software-driven experiences to consumers worldwide.
