Engineering teams from both companies will work in tandem across Japan and Silicon Valley to integrate Applied Intuition’s Vehicle OS. By abstracting hardware complexity, the platform allows Nissan to streamline its internal development processes and shorten the time required to bring new vehicle features to market. The goal is to move beyond the simulation technology used in previous years, shifting toward a comprehensive operating system that supports continuous vehicle updates.
Applied Intuition and Nissan Deepen Partnership on AI-Defined Vehicles
Nissan is shifting its engineering focus toward AI-defined vehicles, tapping Sunnyvale-based Applied Intuition to overhaul its software development infrastructure. The collaboration, which builds on a relationship dating back to 2020, aims to replace legacy workflows with a unified, AI-native platform capable of managing complex vehicle software across multiple powertrains.

Takashi Yoshizawa, corporate executive of Nissan’s SDV Engineering Division, noted that the move is essential for achieving greater agility in vehicle design. Qasar Younis, CEO of Applied Intuition, described the initiative as a fundamental shift in how vehicles are evolved throughout their lifecycle. This expanded deal cements Applied Intuition’s role as a primary software provider for major automotive manufacturers, signaling a broader industry trend where traditional automakers increasingly outsource the foundational intelligence of their fleets to specialized physical AI firms.
