Mercy Medical Center Earns ACR Comprehensive Breast Imaging Designation

The American College of Radiology has granted the Tyanna O'Brien Center for Women's Imaging at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore the Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center designation. This status recognizes the facility for meeting rigorous national standards across all primary breast imaging modalities and a sustained commitment to patient care quality.

Mercy Medical Center Earns ACR Comprehensive Breast Imaging Designation

To achieve this designation, the center underwent a comprehensive assessment of its clinical capabilities. The American College of Radiology requires full accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound, and MRI services. Located at The Weinberg Center in downtown Baltimore, the facility provides specialized diagnostic and screening procedures, including advanced 3D mammography and contrast-enhanced digital mammograms, to detect breast disease in its earliest stages.

Dr. Deepa Masrani, director of the center, noted that the achievement reflects the specialized focus of the imaging team. Beyond the accreditation, the facility now gains access to the ACR National Mammography Database, allowing staff to benchmark practice performance against national data. This feedback loop supports ongoing quality improvements for patients seeking everything from routine screenings to image-guided biopsies and formal cancer risk assessments.
