The board is powered by Upbeat’s UP301 system-on-chip, utilizing a dual-core RISC-V architecture from SiFive. By separating time-critical flight tasks from system-management and communication functions, the design ensures improved responsiveness. The module supports industry-standard stacks, including PX4, ArduPilot, and Betaflight, running on the Apache NuttX real-time operating system.
To address the reliability demands of long-endurance drones and surface vessels, the hardware features dual independent inertial measurement units and redundant GNSS receivers. This sensor-fusion approach allows for stable flight estimates even during individual sensor failure. According to Drone Dynamics CEO Steven Yen, the board’s ease of integration and robust real-time performance make it a viable alternative to legacy autopilots that lack integrated AI acceleration.
