Immunomatics aims to refine how transplant teams select donors by integrating complex biological information into predictive models. Founder Lidio Meireles, a computational biologist and former transplant recipient, launched the firm to address the clinical uncertainty he encountered during his own treatment. By utilizing machine learning, the company seeks to provide clinicians with more precise risk estimates than current standard practices allow.
Wietse Mulder Backs Immunomatics to Advance AI in Transplant Matching
Wietse Mulder, the entrepreneur who built transplant diagnostics leader GenDx, has invested $100,000 in Immunomatics and joined the startup as a strategic advisor. The move bolsters the California-based company’s efforts to move donor-recipient risk assessment beyond traditional HLA mismatch counting using machine learning and clinical outcomes data.

Mulder brings two decades of industry expertise to the role, having led GenDx until its acquisition by Eurobio Scientific in 2022. He will guide the startup through its upcoming technology validation and commercialization phases. The partnership arrives as Immunomatics accelerates its development, supported by a $207,740 NIH SBIR Phase I award and a research collaboration with the UC San Diego Transplantation Lab. The company is currently expanding its clinical data sets and navigating regulatory pathways while maintaining an active equity crowdfunding campaign on Wefunder.
