The acquisition marks a strategic move for Spring Labs, which specializes in AI agents for banking and fintech. By incorporating Winnow’s database of over 100,000 state and federal requirements, SpringGRC will allow compliance teams to map specific legal mandates to internal policies, controls, and testing procedures. This automation is designed to eliminate the manual, error-prone process of tracking regulatory updates across disparate systems.
Spring Labs Acquires Winnow to Automate Financial Compliance
Financial institutions often struggle to manually sync shifting legal mandates with internal workflows, creating a fragmented compliance landscape. By acquiring Winnow, Spring Labs aims to bridge this gap, integrating a massive library of attorney-vetted regulations directly into its new AI-driven compliance platform, SpringGRC.

John Sun, CEO of Spring Labs, noted that the platform functions as an AI-native operating system for regulated work, enabling teams to prove compliance with greater speed and certainty. The new platform is currently available to existing customers in a limited beta, with a full commercial release slated for the fourth quarter of 2026. Winnow, originally developed within the Orrick law firm, will continue to provide the underlying legal content, ensuring that the automated workflows remain tethered to verified regulatory standards.
