Airoha Debuts 50G-PON Gateway Processor with Integrated AI Diagnostics

At the Network X 2026 conference in Vienna, Airoha Technology and MediaTek are showcasing a new 50G-PON gateway processor capable of 50+50 Gbps symmetric throughput. The platform integrates Wi-Fi 8, edge computing, and LLM-based AI agents to enable automated network self-healing and real-time fault diagnostics for broadband providers.

Airoha Debuts 50G-PON Gateway Processor with Integrated AI Diagnostics

The 50G-PON solution delivers a fivefold increase in transmission speeds and an 80% reduction in latency compared to current XGS-PON standards. Built on a SoC architecture with 20 processing cores, the platform manages high-speed data traffic while supporting advanced edge-computing tasks. By embedding TOPS-level compute directly into the gateway, the system allows telecom operators to deploy value-added AI services, including network anomaly detection and generative AI applications, without requiring external hardware.

Airoha is addressing common connectivity issues through an LLM-based AI agent that possesses chipset-specific domain expertise. This agent interacts with device telemetry and network status in natural language, identifying root causes for connection instability or configuration errors. The architecture utilizes a combination of CPU and RISC-V cores to maintain routing performance while running these diagnostic models. Furthermore, the processor incorporates Post-Quantum Cryptography to ensure security standards keep pace with emerging quantum computing threats. The technology is currently shortlisted for the Network X Awards in the Outstanding Multi-Gigabit Fibre Access Innovation category.
