Duolingo Faces Securities Fraud Lawsuit Over Growth and Quality Claims

Investors who purchased Duolingo, Inc. Class A common stock between May 2, 2025, and February 26, 2026, are being urged to join a class action lawsuit filed by the Rosen Law Firm. The litigation alleges that the language learning platform misled shareholders regarding its growth strategies and product quality.

The legal action centers on allegations that Duolingo knowingly leveraged user friction—specifically through aggressive ad volume and subscription upsells—despite internal A/B testing that signaled these tactics were driving users away. The complaint asserts that the company’s reliance on rapidly generated AI content degraded the overall user experience, contradicting public statements about product momentum and retention. According to the suit, defendants failed to disclose that these monetization efforts were negatively impacting Daily Active User growth rates, ultimately causing financial damage to investors once the market grasped the true state of the company's performance. Shareholders seeking to serve as lead plaintiff must file their motion with the court by December 7, 2026. Participation in the lawsuit does not require out-of-pocket payments, as the firm operates on a contingency fee basis. Investors are not obligated to take action at this stage, as no class has yet been certified by the court.
