Alphabet Faces Class Action Lawsuit Over Gemini 3.5 Pro Delays

A securities class action lawsuit filed against Alphabet Inc. claims the tech giant misled investors about the release timeline of its Gemini 3.5 Pro artificial intelligence model. The legal challenge targets statements made during the company’s May 2026 developer conference and the subsequent fallout from reported development struggles.

The litigation centers on the period between May 19 and July 16, 2026, following CEO Sundar Pichai’s announcement at the Google I/O conference that the new AI model would launch in June. According to the complaint, Alphabet failed to disclose that the model was producing lackluster training results, which ultimately forced a significant delay in the product's rollout.

Market confidence wavered on July 16, 2026, after reports surfaced that Google remained months behind schedule. The disclosure triggered a sharp sell-off, with both Class A and Class C shares falling 4.4% by the market close. Investors who suffered losses during this window have until November 30, 2026, to apply for the role of lead plaintiff in the case brought by the law firm Robbins LLP.
