GAC is betting on a "In Europe, For Europe" approach to secure its footprint in the continent's competitive automotive market. Central to this roadmap is the establishment of a dedicated European R&D Center, slated for completion in 2027 with a staff of over 100 local engineering professionals. This facility will complement the existing Milan Design Center, aiming to tailor product development to specific regional demands and high quality standards.
GAC Targets European Expansion with New Engineering-Led Strategy
Amid the backdrop of the 91st Paris Motor Show, GAC has launched its new brand proposition, GAC. THE ENGINEERS, signaling a pivot toward full-chain localization. The strategy aims to embed the Chinese manufacturer deeper into European industrial ecosystems by prioritizing regional R&D, manufacturing, and local service networks.

The company’s global debut of the AION UT Cross highlights a broader push to scale its new energy vehicle lineup. To support this growth, GAC is leveraging its Rotterdam Parts Distribution Center to streamline logistics across 30 countries, with plans to expand its service network to 180 outlets by the end of the year. By integrating proprietary technologies—such as ADiGO Intelligence and X-SOUL Architecture 4.0—with localized production that has already secured five-star Euro NCAP safety ratings for the AION V and AION UT, the manufacturer is attempting to position itself as a reliable, long-term player in the European mobility sector.
