Maven Pet Launches AI Companion to Replace General Health Advice

Nearly half of pet owners now turn to generative AI for veterinary guidance, despite these tools lacking any real-world connection to their animals. Maven Pet is attempting to bridge this gap with Companion, a new assistant that pairs sensor-derived biometric data with AI to provide health insights specific to the individual dog.

While general platforms like ChatGPT rely on static internet data, Maven Pet’s new system processes up to 25 million data points daily from a collar-worn sensor. By tracking vitals, sleep cycles, and activity levels, the app establishes a personalized baseline for each animal. This allows the AI to detect subtle physiological shifts—such as elevated respiratory rates or increased water consumption—often days before an owner notices clinical symptoms. To date, the company has delivered over 125,000 proactive health alerts, primarily focusing on skin, cardiac, and respiratory conditions.

CEO Guilherme Coelho argues that traditional pet ownership is defined by the uncertainty of not being able to communicate with the animal. By shifting from reactive guessing to continuous, data-driven monitoring, the system aims to eliminate the guesswork inherent in home care. The service is currently available to subscribers for an annual fee of $167.92, which includes the necessary tracking hardware.
