Marshall Ganz and Federal Leaders Endorse Zainab Azim for Milton Mayor

Harvard professor and veteran campaign strategist Marshall Ganz has thrown his support behind Zainab Azim’s mayoral bid in Milton. Speaking to a capacity crowd at Bishop Reding Secondary School on October 3, Ganz praised the candidate’s commitment to grassroots organizing and fresh leadership as the municipal race enters its final stretch.

Ganz, known for his role as an architect of Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign and his work with Zohran Mamdani, joined a growing list of prominent political figures backing Azim. The endorsement event, dubbed "Harvard at Home," also featured support from sitting Members of Parliament Salma Zahid and Sima Acan, former MP Bryan May, and former Ontario cabinet minister and mayor Kathryn McGarry. McGarry emphasized that her support for Azim stems from a clear recognition of the candidate's leadership potential for the city.

Azim, a Harvard Teaching Fellow and Milton’s 2022 Citizen of the Year, has centered her campaign on a three-pillar platform focused on local employment, transit improvements, and community engagement. She noted that the endorsements reflect the collective effort of thousands of volunteers who have spent months door-knocking across the region. With Ontario municipal elections scheduled for October 26, voters have until October 15 to participate in advance polling. All endorsements for the non-partisan race were provided in personal capacities.
